EDA THESS connected the new areas of Thermi Municipality, Tagarades, Ag. Paraskevi, Souroti and Vasilika, to the natural gas distribution network in the Prefecture of Thessaloniki and received the citizens’ warmest welcome for the consistency to its planning.
During the touch flame ceremony, held in the ex -Town Hall Square in collaboration with the Municipal Authority of Thermi, all the speakers emphasized to EDA THESS’ respect for its programming and the strict adherence to the schedule for the network development.
As stated by the Company’s General Manager, Mr. Leonidas Bakouras, the Company’s objective is the continuous natural gas distribution, the maintenance of the network’s security and the optimization of services provided to the Distribution Users and End Consumers. The Company serves this purpose by focusing on consistency, dedication to the results, programming orientation and robust strategic planning, values inherent in its course.
EDA THESS, in full consistency to its Development Program and in line with the announcements made a year ago, remains committed to its announcements to integrate new areas in the distribution network. For the Municipality of Thermi, the connection of its areas to the gas network started from Thermi, followed by N. Redestos and Triadi, at the end of 2017 Trilofos and Plagiari were supplied and at the end of 2018 N. Rysio was also connected. By 2020, Kardia is expected to join the distribution network, with investments made for the Municipality surpassing € 8,4 million by the end of 2023.
EDA THESS operates fully respecting the legislative and regulatory framework with regard to its Operational Independence and develops its work in accordance with the principles of equal treatment and equal access to information for the Distribution Users.
Investments for the network’s further development are implemented with technical criteria concerning the ability of construction and the works safety and also with private - financial criteria concerning the demand and the capacity of each area, as well as the return on the investment. EDA THESS achieves the lowest distribution tariffs in Greece by ensuring the profitability of investments, in line with its strategic planning and regardless of political will.
The event was attended and welcomed by the Minister of Macedonia – Thrace, Mr. Th. Karaoglou, who also inaugurated the distribution network by touching the natural gas flame, the Mayor of Thermi, Mr. Th. Papadopoulos, the Chairman of EDA THESS BoD, Mr. V. Bouras, the Vice Regional Governor of Central Macedonia, Mr. K. Gioutikas, the President of PED, Mayor of Pylea – Chortiatis, Mr. I. Kaitezidis and the Member of Parliament, former Deputy Minister of Environment & Energy, Mr. S. Famellos.
It is worth noting that in the context of the development of its activities, EDA THESS is moving towards uniting the areas of its License with the natural gas network and the people, representing both the respective governments and the opposition. These are the people the Company is especially grateful to for their excellent words and who honor with their presence the events for the supply of new areas organized by EDA THESS over the years.
During the ceremony, the state, local authorities and stakeholders expressed their satisfaction for the excellent cooperation they have maintained over the years with EDA THESS, which is distinguished for its effective management and professionalism of its executives. They recognized the collective effort that is being made and congratulated the management of the Company for the results achieved by both the high organization and the know – how.
As stated by the General Manager, Mr. Bakouras, "we are committed to reaching more and more areas of the License by expanding in further the country's energy map, with a view to the safe and uninterrupted operation of the distribution network…”.
